Rally for Fun

Rally is an exciting team sport for dogs and their handlers. In Rally, teams enter a ring. You follow a course of numbered signs, each displaying an exercise you must perform.

The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) was the first organization to host a sanctioned Rally trial in the United States. It was held in Ellenville, NY in September 2001, and Teoti Anderson was the master of ceremonies!

Now, the American Kennel Club (AKC) is the largest sponsor of Rally trials in the US. This class will cover both AKC and APDT rules.

Our Rally for Fun class is an introductory course. So if you enjoy activities with your dog and want to hone your skills as a team, this class is for you! The signs are based on the exercises you learn in Family Manners I, with some new skills that expand on what you've learned.

It is NOT a competition-focused class and is NOT limited to purebred dogs. That isn't our style. Plus, under APDT rules, mixed breeds and even dogs with disabilities are encouraged to participate! Please note if you are a serious competitor, this class will not completely prepare you for the ring.

Requirements:

bullet

You and your dog must have completed our Family Manners I class.

bullet

Dogs must have had all vaccinations, including rabies and the kennel cough vaccine.

bullet

Dogs must also be COMPLETELY friendly towards people and other dogs. Any dog that growls, snaps, bites or in any ways acts aggressively towards people and/or other dogs is not suited for our group classes.

Cost: $90

Class size is limited. You must pre-register directly with Pawsitive Results to attend. This class is not offered every session, and is only held in the West Columbia location. Learn how to register.
